Ann Layton is widely recognized as one of the world's leading specialists in the field of travel and tourism communications. Prior to starting Siren Communications in 2002, Layton was Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts where she was responsible for all communications for over 70 hotels worldwide.  She has a Master's Degree in Economics (MSc) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and is fluent in French and Spanish.

Named "Green Hotelier of the Year" by the International Hotel Association in Paris France, Layton created and implemented one of the industry's first comprehensive environmental programs. Layton has served on the Communications Committee of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) in London, England, and was an original member of the International Hotels Environment Initiative (IHEI) under the auspices of the Prince of Wales Business Leaders Forum.

She found her love for the industry working as a waitress at Jasper Park Lodge and is a former Wardair flight attendant.

At Siren, we are passionate about our work.
Our team members describe the first time they were inspired by travel.

Vera Blair Director of Operations "I still remember the first trip I took without my family – a school trip to Quebec City. I jumped on the bus with my Polaroid camera, grade-7 level French and a sense of wonder. We stayed at the Chateau Frontenac and from the moment we arrived, I was in awe of the entirely different culture that existed just one province away."

Jyoti Minhas Senior Account Supervisor “I spent my summers as a kid by glacier lakes, in the fresh alpine air, driving up and down British Columbia’s coast. My father driving us in a minivan along the edge of the Canadian Rockies and my mother using a paper map, pointing him where to go. Those summers ignited a sense of adventure in me, and now I seek Mother Nature’s awe inspiring landscapes all over the world.”

Sarah Harris Managing Editor, Digital & Social Media "My first taste of wanderlust was when I packed my bags and moved to London at 23. After stepping off the plane, I took one look around Heathrow and thought, what have I just done? I grew wings, gained confidence and mustered up a whole lot of strength. Ever since then I've been obsessed with stamps on my passport and geotags on my Instagram feed."

Olivia Brutto Account Supervisor “While on a cruise with my father, age 13, he woke me up at dawn, took me up to the highest deck of the ship and as we watched the sunrise over the Caribbean Sea he said to me: “Look at all that water – can you believe it? There is a whole world out there, and it's never ending.”

Janine Maral Tascioglu Account Coordinator "At 14, I travelled with my classmates to our mother country, Armenia, for three weeks. That trip was the first time I travelled away from my parents and stood on my own while gaining hands-on learning experiences about the country and culture I celebrate. That's when I realized I wanted to continue travelling as much as a could to explore more cultures and hear heartful stories around the world."
